Randy Jackson Leaving ‘American Idol’

Fox's "American Idol XIII" Finalists PartyIt’s the end of an era for ‘American Idol.’ Randy Jackson, the only judge left from the show’s start, is leaving the show. He stepped down from the judge’s table last season but stayed on as a mentor. Now, he’s done altogether. RELATED: People aren’t drawn to the “catfights” on ‘American Idol.’

Randy released a statement to People confirming his departure.

After 13 seasons, I felt now was the perfect time to leave American Idol. I’m proud to have been a part of a series that discovered some incredible artists and will go down in history as one of the most successful television shows ever. A true original, Idol started it all. Onto what’s next.”

This leaves Ryan Seacrest as the only one from the first season of ‘American Idol’ left with the show. I hope Randy finds something exciting to do next!

American Idol Producers: OUT!

Fox is not sitting and letting American Idol die a quiet death.

With Randy Jackson, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey all out as judges – and Keith Urban’s bags as good as packed – The Wrap has confirmed that producers Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick have also been let go.

Both have presided over Idol since its inception, though Lythgoe left for two years in 2008.

The competition flopped in Season 12, falling to season low ratings and losing its timeslot to The Big Bang Theory among 18-49-year olds.

No word yet on who will replace Lythgoe and Warwick, though let’s hope they don’t bring Motown Night and other tired themes with them.

As part of the show’s major shake-up, Jennifer Hudson is reportedly in as judge, with Kelly Clarkson and Adam Lambert possibly on deck.

NICKI MINAJ Out Of American Idol

Britney Spears at the The 2013 Elton John Academy Awards Party in LA

Well this isn’t really a shocker now, is it?  American Idol has been suffering some of it’s worst ratings ever, and Randy Jackson has already been confirmed as not coming back next year.  Rumours have been circulating that none of the judges will be back, and now US Weekly is exclusively reporting that Nicki Minaj is officially out;

“It’s safe to say she isn’t coming back to Idol,” an insider tells Us, adding that the “Roman Holiday” rapper will be focusing on her next album, touring, and endorsements. “She’s okay with it. She had a great time but was only going to do one season anyway.”

I don’t know if she had only planned one season, but I’m sure Nicki could see the writing on the wall a long time ago that she wouldn’t be welcome back especially with the dismal ratings the show has been pulling.  It’s too bad because I really liked Keith Urban on the show, but the rest of the judging panel just wasn’t working for me. I will be very interested to see who they bring on for next season.

AMERICAN IDOL Is The Show Firing The Entire Judging Panel?

FOX 'American Idol' finalists party

I think it’s no secret that the ratings for American Idol have been less than stellar this season, even with the whole Mariah Carey/Nicki Minaj ‘fued’ that’s happened.  And now it looks like things are going to have to change on the show, namely the judging panel.

This season the show brought on 3 new judges - Keith Urban, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey to join original judge Randy Jackson, but according to US Weekly all four judges are going to be fired;

“All four are gone,”

“They feel they’ve lost their core audience and they want it back.”

I don’t know if that’s the judges fault or the fact that there’s so many other shows similar on the air now?  I do miss Simon Cowell and his sharp tongue, and I think that it became more about the judges than the talent in recent years.  I guess a change really can’t hurt anything!

Steven Tyler: I Snorted Half of Peru!

Give Steven Tyler points for honesty.

And shake your head over how he’s still standing.

In an interview with 60 Minutes Australia that will air Sunday night, the singer is asked about previous claims that he spent $20 million on cocaine in the 1970s.

Steven Tyler Up Close

That’s not exactly accurate, the ex-American Idol judge admits.

“Realistically, 5 or 6 [million],” says Tyler, adding: “You also could say I snorted half of  Peru, but it doesn’t matter.”

The Aerosmith frontman has been sober for 20 years, though he did suffer a relapse with prescription pills in the late 2000.

He underwent treatment and can now speak openly about the entire ordeal.

Somewhere, even Charlie Sheen is in awe of that whole Peru snorting thing.

People Aren’t Drawn To A Catfight? ‘American Idol’ Premiere Ratings Down

american idol premiere ratings down

Did you watch the season premiere of ‘American Idol‘ last night? I admit, I did. It turns out not as many people tuned in for the much-hyped catfight between new judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj as FOX may have hoped. ‘American Idol’s’ ratings were down last night.

Entertainment Weekly reports ‘American Idol’ drew 17.9 million viewers and a 6.0 among adults in the 18-49 demo. That’s a 19% decrease from last year’s opening, which had been the lowest one ever for the show. I think it’s easy to forget, however, that in its prime, ‘American Idol’ was a juggernaut. It absolutely dominated the winter TV season. That couldn’t last forever, no matter how often you bring in new judges. But for those of you who did watch, what did you think? Something tells me we’re going to see even more tension between Mariah and Nicki in future episodes. For what it’s worth, I thought Mariah, Nicki, and Keith Urban did a good job judging!

Nicki Minaj Scared ‘American Idol’ Will Make Her Too Famous

nicki minaj worried american idol will make her too famous

Get ready to see more of Nicki Minaj this winter! A new season of ‘American Idol‘ is about to start, and she will be at the judges table, along with Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and the lone returning judge, Randy Jackson. Now that the time is here, Nicki’s worried her stint on ‘American Idol’ will make her TOO famous. I didn’t even know celebs worried about that these days!

“I had a lot of talks with people — my family, my best friends, my label, Lil Wayne, management and then the producers. Sometimes you are afraid of being too famous because it’s almost, like, is that even cool? Being that accessible, someone you see on TV every week? I never pictured myself as that type of person. I’m still surprised that I decided to do it.”

Nicki declined to discuss tension between herself and Mariah except to say:

“Sometimes things get heated for their own reasons. I don’t think the panel has an issue.

I have to admit, I’ll be tuning into ‘American Idol’ to see the new judging panel. Of course that’s exactly what the producers want! I’m putty in their hands- LOL. Are you planning to watch?

Stacy Keibler “has stepped up efforts to milk the Clooney Machine for all it’s worth”

Things got a little bit crazy between George Clooney and Stacy Keibler a few months ago. There were widespread rumors that Clooney was losing interest and that a breakup was imminent. Those rumors came on the heels of Stacy trying on engagement rings and reportedly checking out wedding gowns, so… yeah, I feel pretty confident that she was put on notice. But she managed to bounce back, showing up on Clooney’s arm at some red carpets, and he even took her to Mexico for Thanksgiving, which is like his new holiday tradition. Stacy got back on message (that message: “I don’t want to get married, I’m a guy’s girl, I’m not into commitment” etc) and she kept her position. For now.

But for how long will Stacy be able to stay? I guess it depends on several factors, the biggest one being: is Argo going to be up for all of the awards this year? Clooney executive produced Argo, and if there are awards season red carpets to walk, I think Stacy gets to stay through March at least. Mostly because Clooney doesn’t want to go through the hassle of hiring another girl and getting her trained and styled in time for the Oscars. So… in that situation, Stacy is good for another three months at least. But what then? Well, Stacy has a plan!

Stacy Keibler, 33, has spent most of her professional life using her body to advance her career. But since she started dating George Clooney, 51, she’s been using her head.

“Stacy’s always bugging him about having dinner with his agents and pours on the charm around his management team,” a spy tells Star.

And lately, friends say, she has stepped up her efforts to milk the George machine for all it’s worth – because she fears her famously restless boyfriend might be getting ready to move on.

“Stacy’s desperate to land something meaty before the Clooney halo of publicity evaporates,” the source reveals. “Rumor has it, she’s on a mission to get a spot on American Idol. She was all over Randy Jackson at the AMAs recently, hugging and getting all touchy-feely – which completely baffled everyone. Who knew the two of them were even friends.”

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

Stacy has hustle, I’ve never denied that. What strikes me most about Stacy’s hustle is that she seems to know her limits, and she’s very good at setting attainable goals. Like, she’s not begging George to make her into a supermodel or anything. Stacy takes smaller, lower-profile gigs, like party appearances or Las Vegas “hostessing” gigs or the occasional budget modeling gig, and she’s slowly accruing a nice little nest egg for herself. I think a gig on American Idol is probably a pipe dream, but it’s good to see that Stacy knows where she belongs in general – on reality shows.
