Stephanie Seymour Discusses Being a Muse With Town & Country

stephanie seymour town & country november 2014 (1)Model Stephanie Seymour covers the November issue of Town & Country. November is Town & Country’s Art Issue, and it’s all about modern muses. Stephanie is identified as modern-day Mona Lisa during the span of her storied career. Since 1995, she has been married to Peter Brant, a long-time art collector and founder of The Brant Foundation Art Study Center in Greenwich, CT. Stephanie talks about being a muse in her interview. RELATED: Naomi Watts tells Town & Country she’d rather be a character actress than a leading lady.

Stephanie was the inspiration for a painting called ‘Trophy Wife,’ which is a painting of herself conceptualized by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan. She said:

[Trophy Wife is] a very beautiful work of art… [it's] an honor to be a muse to a wonderful artist like Maurizio Cattelan.”

The Town & Country article goes on to discuss how women have served as muses to men for years, since the time of ancient Greece. You can read the full interview in the November issue of Town & Country, which hits newsstands on October 14!

Naomi Watts Wishes She Had More Kids

Naomi Watts & Liev Schreiber Out With Their Boys In NYC‘Diana’ star Naomi Watts opened up about one regret she has as far as her family goes. She has two sons: Sasha, who’s seven, and Kai, who’s five, with partner Liev Schreiber. RELATED: Naomi Watts says she’d rather be a character actress than a leading lady.

Naomi explained in an interview:

I should have had more kids, started younger.”

She said she’d actually love to relive childbirth. Seriously.

I feel like the births of my children were so huge, but I don’t remember either of them well. I wish I could have it all back but without the pain.”

Okay: the “without the pain” bit made that statement far more believable- LOL. Naomi said she and Liev balance each other out as parents.

Liev has a lot more courage than me. He’s always saying, ‘Let the kids do it. Take the training wheels off!’ My bit of fear balances him, and he balances my fear.”

It does sound like they balance each other :).

2014 Emmys Open Post: Hosted by Lea Michele’s Bangs Trauma

FFN_Variet_Event_KMFF_082414_51510435

Here are some photos of Lea Michele at a pre-Emmy event over the weekend. Lea is our Emmys Open Post hostess this year, just because CB and I really couldn’t decide who else to choose. So I’m choosing Lea, or more specifically, Lea’s terrible bangs. Some call it “fringe” but “fringe trauma” sounds like an actual medical condition whereas “bangs trauma” just sounds like a terrible styling choice. In these photos, Lea was attending the Emmy Nominee Celebration sponsored by Variety and Samsung.

It’s worth noting that Lea isn’t an actual Emmy nominee this year. She’s only been nominated for an Emmy once, in 2010. Still, I expect she’ll show up and try to rock the red carpet. She might even bring her new (rented) piece. And I’m sure she’ll be a mess too, just like she is in this Narciso Rodriguez Resort 2015 look. Usually, I love Narciso’s designs but not so much here. You know who could have pulled this off? Naomi Watts.

Anyway, feel free to vent about the Emmys telecast here. Again, we’ll be live-tweeting tonight during the red carpet and we’ll spend most of tomorrow covering Emmys fashion and the actual awards. Here’s CB’s Twitter, Bedhead’s Twitter and my Twitter. The Emmys start at 8 pm on NBC and E! has the red carpet show.

Cate Blanchett’s NYC street style involves drop-crotch pants: fab or fug?

FFN_Blanchett_Cate_GGFF_081614_51503454

Cate Blanchett has been in NYC for several weeks, having brought the Sydney Theatre Company’s production of The Maids to Broadway. As such, the paparazzi have gotten lots of street-style photos of Cate entering the theater every day. Cate, as we all know, enjoys clothes. She enjoys high-fashion and she has a wonderful ability to make simple, inexpensive pieces look like haute couture.

Many theater actors just wear jeans to and from their jobs, but not Cate. Cate puts some thought into it. Take those drop-crotch pants Cate wore a few days ago. Lainey has been praising the drop-crotch for a while but I always associate (fairly or unfairly) the drop-crotch with Justin Bieber and his droopy drawers. I think the drop-crotch always looks ill-fitting and yes, sort of juvenile. Like you need extra room for a diaper or something. So, I’m kind of disappointed in Cate’s drop-crotch. But I am obsessed with her too-big tote. THAT is amazing.

As for Cate’s play, The Maids, every critic has praised the production and Cate specifically. Professionally speaking, Cate can do no wrong. She’s the Meryl Streep of her generation, able to hit it out of the park every time, in theatre, film or television (although Cate doesn’t do TV!). Cate just won the Helpmann Award for Best Female Actor this week for the play. And every single actress has made a pilgrimage to NYC to see Cate in the play. This is the list of women who have gone to see it: Meryl Streep, Marlo Thomas, Nicole Kidman, Taylor Schilling, Rachel Weisz, Anne Hathaway, Naomi Watts, Blythe Danner, Bernadette Peters… and I’m sure, so many more. Page Six says it will probably be adapted into a movie.

Naomi Watts Tells Town & Country She’d Rather Be A Character Actress Than Leading Lady

naomi watts town & country sept 2014 (1)If this interview is any indication, Naomi Watts is one grounded, career-savvy actress! Doesn’t she look great on the cover of Town & Country? Naomi chatted with the magazine about her earlier struggles as an actress, what she wished she knew, and what motivated her to take the part of Theo James’s character’s Four’s mother in ‘Divergent.’ RELATED: Naomi Watts and Reese Witherspoon are ready to get zen.

Check out these excerpts from Naomi’s interview.

On her fear of auditions:
“I’m an anxious person, and I hate being put in a position where I’m being tested. If I feel safe, I can be me, but if I don’t feel safe, I try to please.”

On pressure to get plastic surgery in Hollywood:
“I’m really just feeling my way. This being an industry town, that self-consciousness just pervades. There are days when I feel victorious that I have, you know, gotten this far [without plastic surgery]. But there are a million days when I look in the mirror and think, ‘I’m going to do it.’”

On accepting the role of Evelyn, mother of Theo James’ Four in the Divergent franchise:
“I’d rather be a character actress and have longevity – as much of it as I can – than kid myself into believing I’m always going to be a leading lady, you know?”

On self-acceptance:
“If only I’d known back then, over those 10 years of trying to prove myself, what I know now, which is just be you. I didn’t trust that me was what people wanted.”

I think that’s a lesson we ALL need to learn: just be yourself. Anything else, ultimately, isn’t going to work. You can read Naomi’s entire interview in the September issue of Town & Country, which hits newsstands on August 12th.

BILL MURRAY & MELISSA MCCARTHY Hot New Trailer: ‘St. Vincent’

bill murray stars in st vincent 2Now this looks like a funny movie. ‘St. Vincent’ is headlined by quite a cast: Bill Murray and Melissa McCarthy. Naomi Watts and Chris O’Dowd also star in the film. Bill stars as a man who seems to be quite the curmudgeon but agrees to babysit Melissa’s son for the cash. RELATED: Melissa McCarthy also stars in ‘Tammy.’

From there, as you can imagine, an improbable friendship begins between Bill’s character and the son. Naomi plays a stripper who’s another “friend” of Bill’s character. This film looks genuinely funny. One thing I’m not so crazy about with a lot of comedies these days is that they feature a lot of middle-school humor. This one looks like it’s a bit more sophisticated than that. Check out the trailer. What do you think?

Emma Stone & Andrew Garfield look low-key & loved-up in NYC: cute or cloying?

FFN_Stone_Garfield_TEACH_061614_51452855

Is it just me or is everything slow as molasses these days, at least gossip-wise? Maybe it’s the World Cup sucking all of the energy and boy drama out of celebrity gossip. Anyway, I doubt this is going to be the biggest post of the day or anything, but it’s super-slow and I liked these photos. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone were spotted walking around NYC, which I believe is their home-base. I know Emma owns some property there, and I’m pretty sure Andrew lives with her. Andrew has a beard these days, and it looks really nice on him, right? Clean-shaven, he has a very young face (which is probably why people like him as Peter Parker/Spider-Man). But with a beard, he looks more grown up. Emma looks cute too. What do you think she’s drinking? It looks like iced tea or some kind of tea-blend to me.

There were some tabloid rumors going around about Andrew proposing to Emma, but I don’t know. I’m guessing they’ve probably talked about marriage and I’m also guessing that Andrew might want to marry her, like, yesterday. But Emma’s only 25. She might think she’s too young (and I would agree with her). He’s 30. Maybe he thinks she’ll be more interested in marriage in a few years. Oh, and there are also stories – which I believe more than the engagement rumors – about Emma and Andrew looking at some LA real estate together. Apparently, they might have found an eight-bedroom love nest.

Also, Emma has a part in the ensemble black comedy/dramedy Birdman, starring Michael Keaton, Naomi Watts, Edward Norton and more. The teaser trailer was released last week and it is profoundly strange.

Emma also has a part in Woody Allen’s new movie, Magic in the Moonlight, with Colin Firth. Um… they’re love interests? He’s literally more than twice her age. Here’s that trailer:

Angelina Jolie gets regular ‘Triad Facials’ involving laser peels & glycolic peels

wenn21404189

Gross but true: I’ve been battling an awful poison ivy rash for the past two weeks. I actually just “got over” it but I’m still dealing with the remnants, like a gross skin discoloration where the worst parts of the rash were. What makes it so much worse is that the rash was actually on my neck (long story short: I was playing with my dog, who had apparently been playing in a field of poison ivy, and then I touched my neck without washing my hands). So, I’ve been thinking about skin care and how much I missed my old skin worries (eye bags, the occasional breakout) so much.

What I’m saying is that I would love Angelina Jolie’s skin. I remember a time, back in the day, when Angelina didn’t have great skin, in her early 20s. Then at some point, she really started taking better care of herself and her skin, and you can see the results now. So what does Angelina do to keep her skin looking so fresh? Us Weekly says it’s a called a “Triad Facial.”

When we weren’t obsessing over Angelina Jolie’s custom Christian Louboutins during the Maleficent press blitz, we were in awe of the Oscar winner’s radiant complexion. The Disney film’s star—who celebrates her 39th birthday today, June 4—shies away from heavy makeup, save for an occasional smoky eye, so her radiant skin has been front-and-center in London, Los Angeles and, most recently, Shanghai.

As it turns out, the secret to the mother of six’s flawless skin isn’t a magic spell befitting her evil sorceress character. Instead, the Oscar winner turns to dermatologist David Colbert of the New York Dermatology Group.

Jolie, who first met the dermatologist on set of the 2010 thriller Salt when she had a minor cut, regularly receives the celeb-loved Triad Facial, which also counts Naomi Watts as a fan.

The 30-minute treatment, which starts at $800, combines microdermabrasion, laser and a glycolic peel. She has also has used products from his Colbert MD line.

In addition to working in his office, Colbert regularly moonlights as the on-set dermatologist for movies. For the just-released X-Men: Days of Future Past, he and his team were responsible for making sure the blue makeup that Jennifer Lawrence didn’t wreak havoc on her skin.

[From Us Weekly]

Do you consider any of this to be “invasive” skin care? Like, on the high end of the spectrum, plastic surgery? On the low end of the “invasive” spectrum, I guess it would be Botox. I don’t. I think this is just really fancy facial stuff. Peels, microdermabrasion – lots of women would do that if they could afford it (I certainly would). The laser stuff is interesting though. So, do you believe this? Or do you think she’s getting the odd Botox shot to supplement her skincare? I think she probably tried Botox at one point, a few years ago. But I don’t think she’s doing it now.

Cannes Fashion: Salma Hayek, Jessica Chastain, Freida Pinto & more

wenn21364905

Here are some assorted fashion photos from the past few days of the Cannes Film Festival. These are stragglers who didn’t fit in to other big premiere posts, but their dresses were notable enough to discuss. Let’s start with Salma Hayek. She wore this hot pink Saint Laurent at the premiere of Yves Saint Laurent. Eh. For what it is – a hot pink tube dress with a friggin’ bow at the waist – it’s okay. The fit is beautiful, but this just feels like a fancy version of a prom dress you would buy at the mall. I do like the diamond Cartier cuff/bracelet.

FFN_Cannes_ProphetRC_CHP_051714_51415732

And here’s Salma at a photocall, wearing Bottega Veneta. This is weird, right? It looks like she has black entrails coming out of her abdomen, and the matchy-matchy shoes are awful.

FFN_Cannes_HayekPC_SGP_051714_51415344

Jessica Chastain in Atelier Versace at The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby premiere. I personally think this shade of “royal blue” is difficult for most women to pull off. It’s just something about the blue – it can make so many women look like stewardesses or hotel employees. I like the design of the gown, even though I usually dislike asymmetry in formalwear. I would have asked if Versace could make the gown in an off-white, an eggplant or maybe even black.

Frieda Pinto in Michael Kors. Eh. Meh. Of all the colors she could pull off, she goes for this blah oatmeal color?

wenn21364824

Naomi Watts at the How To the Train Your Dragon 2 premiere. Look at the cheapness of that gown. Of course it’s Marchesa. Even her hair sucks. Naomi really needs to stop wearing Marchesa – it never looks good on her. Ever.

FFN_Cannes_TrainDragonRC_SGP_051614_51415707

Monica Bellucci in Dolce & Gabbana at a Cannes photocall. Polka dots? Really? I think she’s beautiful, but I guess I’m just missing the polka-dot gene.

wenn21364760

Hilary Swank in Bottega Veneta at a Cannes photocall… is it wrong to love this? She looks beautiful.

wenn21364683

Lea Seydoux in Prada – this might be one of my favorite looks, actually. It does feel Christmasy, and this would have been amazing on a red carpet in December. Wait… I just saw the weird jewels or whatever on the train. Nevermind, Prada always takes it one step too far.

Lupita Nyong’o wears blue Calvin Klein in Cannes: lovely or kind of boring?

Here are some photos from the Calvin Klein party last night at the Cannes Film Festival. This was Lupita Nyong’o’s first Cannes! And while she doesn’t have a film to promote, she’s hardly the first actress to come to Cannes just to be a Fashion Girl and a Party Girl. She’s got a MiuMiu contract and a Lancome contract – showing up to parties and looking beautiful is one of her jobs now.

Lupita partied and posed with Rooney Mara (the current face of Calvin Klein), Julianne Moore and Naomi Watts at the Cannes event. They all look like they were having a good time… except for Rooney, who always looks… aloof. All of these ladies are wearing Calvin Klein, obviously. Even though I’m not crazy about the cut-out on Lupita’s CK dress, I think hers was the prettiest. I think Julianne’s was the worst, although Naomi’s dress was trying to give Julianne’s a run for the Fug Title.

So, are you okay with Lupita coming out to these events? I’m fine with it. Cannes is a great place to network, and hey, she might even get some work out of this trip.
