Jessa Duggar Questions Radiometric Dating, Believes Earth is Like 6,000 Years Old

Jessa Duggar, if we’re interpreting her social media accounts correctly, is skeptical of the radiometric dating methods used to determine the age of rocks on Earth.

Why has she taken an interest in this subject? Because it’s one of the primary scientific methods cited by those people who believe evolution is actually a thing.

Jessa Duggar, apparently, is not one of those people.

Jessa D.

The 21-year-old, whose comments on abortion and the Holocaust made headlines last month, is sure to incur more online wrath now by merely posting a link.

She has been critical of Atheism and evolution before, so linking to a pro-creationism article titled “Does radiometric dating prove the earth is old?” isn’t out of left field.

Still, it makes it plain as day where she stands here …

The article points out supposed discrepancies in radiometric dating “proving” Earth is, in actuality, not several billion of years old. Just 6,000 approximately.

The conclusion of this “study” is as follows:

  • “The best way to learn about history and the age of the earth is to consult the history book of the universe … the Bible.”
  • “Many scientists and theologians accept a straightforward reading of Scripture and agree that the earth is about 6,000 years old.”
  • “It is better to use the infallible Word of God for our scientific assumptions than to change His Word in order to compromise with ‘science’ that is based upon man’s fallible assumptions.”
  • “True science will always support God’s Word.”

Humans and dinosaurs lived together just a few thousand years ago, according to this analysis – who knew? – so don’t even think about playing that card.

Jessa Duggar Wedding Invitation

This beautiful wedding invitation beckons you to the nuptials of Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald. If only we could go.

This site, for what it’s worth, also says that cancer “reminds us of the brokenness, suffering, and mortality of creation in this age, all traceable back to Adam’s sin.”

We like Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald and have enjoyed following their love story – soon to be made official at their November 1 wedding! – on TV and social media.

Part of their appeal is how they find peace and inner strength and religion, and how that drives them to lead a moral life that rejects many social norms.

It’s admirable and pure in a way, especially in these crazy times.

Why do you think so many of us watch 19 Kids and Counting online and, even if we don’t live like they do, find ourselves actually asking “What Would Jim Bob Do?”

That said, Jessa’s pushing it here by advocating a random website whose singular goal is clearly to skew “science” so it conforms to what she wants to hear.

Pretending it’s anything more than that is just kidding yourself.

Agree? Disagree? Hit the comments and let us know. We’re willing and looking forward to hearing from people expressing all opinions on this weighty subject.

Dates Without Chaperones

The Duggar parents often accompany their children on dates in order to maintain their “accountability” and “keep things from going in the wrong direction,” per Jim Bob. The girls are fine with this, as being alone with men puts them in grave “moral danger.” When the parents aren’t available, their older siblings will often tag along, making every date a group date and a family affair.

Jessa Duggar: Did She Really Compare Holocaust to Abortion? Read Her Full Remarks Here

19 Kids and Counting star Jessa Duggar recently incurred the Internet’s wrath for comparing the Holocaust to abortion during a trip to Washington, D.C.

But is it really as simple as that? A closer reading of her thoughts suggests not.

Jessa Seewald Photo

The controversy arose after Jessa visited the Holocaust Museum and wrote on her Instagram about the unspeakable genocide that occurred during World War II.

In the young Duggar’s mind, and everyone else’s, this atrocity took place because people abused power, victimizing those whose lives they viewed as lesser.

She wasn’t making a political statement in her mind, but a moral one.

Jessa, who is engaged to Ben Seewald, went on to express heartache the for innocents who lost their lives because others deemed them unworthy of it.

Yes, she went on to mention abortion as part of her post, and her apparent belief in creationism is another story, but read the full context of it below:

“I walked through the Holocaust Museum again today … very sobering. Millions of innocents denied the most basic and fundamental of all rights – their right to life.”

“One human destroying the life of another deemed less than human.”

“Racism, stemming from the evolutionary idea that man came from something less than human; that some people groups are ‘more evolved and others ‘less evolved.'”

“A denying that our Creator — GOD — made us human from the beginning, all of ONE BLOOD and ONE RACE, descendants of Adam.”

“The belief that some human beings are ‘not fit to live.’ So they’re murdered. Slaughtered. Kids with Down syndrome or other disabilities. The sickly. The elderly.”

Jessa Duggar & Ben Seewald: So in Love

Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald are now engaged to be married after an 11-month courtship. Here’s a gallery of photos of their love!

“The sanctity of human life varies not in sickness or health, poverty or wealth, elderly or pre-born, little or lots of melanin [making you darker or lighter skinned], or any other factor.”

“If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small. If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain.”

“If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not He that pondereth the heart consider it? and He that keepeth thy soul, doth not He know it? and shall not He render to every man according to his works?” (Proverbs 24:10-12)”

“May we never sit idly by and allow such an atrocity to happen again. Not this generation. We must be a voice for those who cannot speak up for themselves. Because EVERY LIFE IS PRECIOUS. #ProLife

Jessa’s personal view that every human being is deserving of life from the moment of conception is not in dispute, and is by all accounts controversial.

She is strongly pro-life, and proudly so. You might disagree and have every right to, but from someone who believes as she does, is this really that ridiculous?

Nowhere did she “compare” the Holocaust to abortion in the sense of one being equal to the other, but in her view, both are tragic losses of life.

Note that she also decries racism or discrimination in her lengthy missive.

In a heartfelt way, she described how the Holocaust reminded her of other situations in which she feels innocents’ lives are taken and should not be.

Again, it’s not a point that’s above debating. Or criticizing, intelligently.

But it’s nothing you haven’t seen before if you watch 19 Kids and Counting online or know anything at all about her family and their strong beliefs.

Jessa Duggar Uses the Holocaust to Attack Abortion, Evolution

Yeah, she went there.

Just one day after Jessa Duggar bashed evolution and atheism on Instagram, she returned to the social media site to express an even more controversial view.

Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald in DC

Jessa and her fiance Ben Seewald are in DC at the moment, and according to her IG page they recently paid a visit to the US Holocaust Museum.

The future Mrs. Seewald was clearly moved by the experience, and with good reason. The museum brings to vivid life one of the most horrific tragedies in human history.

Unfortunately, and all too predictably, the emotions that Jessa experienced at the museum inspired an lengthy, impassioned defense of her various political causes and religious convictions – none of which have anything to do with the millions of lives lost in concentration camps.

Jessa’s latest Insta-rant is too long to reproduce here, but she begins by saying, “I walked through the Holocaust museum today…very sobering.”

So far, so good. She goes on to lament man’s inhumanity toward man and decry the horrors of racism.

Then she begins to go off the rails, asserting that racism stems “from the evolutionary idea that man evolved from something less than human; that some people groups are ‘less evolved’ and others ‘more evolved.'”

Say what? We’re not sure what evolutionary biologists Jessa’s been chatting with, but the gist of the theory is that we all evolved from different species.

There’s literally not a single reputable scientist on the planet claiming that “some people groups are ‘less evolved.'”

But hey, if your head hasn’t exploded yet, don’t worry – it gets worse.

Following a lengthy quote from the Book of Proverbs (We highly doubt Jessa abides by every law in the Old Testament, but that’s a conversation for another time.), Jessa mercifully wraps things up.

But first, of course, she gut-punches you with nonsense one last time:

“We must be a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. Because EVERY LIFE IS PRECIOUS #ProLife”

That bit at the end was the first time that Jessa mentioned anything about abortion, and to be clear, we’re not attacking her stance on the matter. It’s a complex issue and not a debate we’re interested in wading into here.

All we’re saying is, DON’T FREAKIN’ COMPARE ANYTHING TO THE HOLOCAUST! There. It’s that simple.

It’s like using a racial slur or cat-calling a strange woman on the street. Just don’t do it ever, or you’re a jackass. Is that so hard?

Watch 19 Kids and Counting online at TV Fanatic to see if you can find a scene in which Jessa says something smart.

Manti Te’o Girlfriend Death: One Giant Hoax?!?

In one of the stranger, more elaborate death hoaxes to hit the Internet and way beyond, a new report suggests Notre Dame star linebacker Manti Te’o’s girlfriend did not die this year, as had been previously reported.

In fact, she never even existed.

Some quick background:

Fake Twitter Photo
  • Te’o was a Heisman Trophy finalist who led Notre Dame to an undefeated regular season.
  • On September 12, news broke that his girlfriend, Lennay Kekua, passed away from leukemia. The story became national news three days later after Te’o starred in an Irish victory and said Kekua encouraged him to play.
  • Kekua’s funeral took place on September 22, with Te’o not in attendance and with the above message displayed across television screens, supposedly proving that this was in accordance with his late girlfriend’s wishes.

But now Deadspin has come out with an elaborate article that alleges there is no record anywhere of Kekua’s death: no obituary, no funeral announcement, no mention in the Stanford student newspaper.

Moreover, there is no record of her life.

University records do not show anyone named Lennay Kekua enrolled at Stanford; there is no record of her birth and, in perhaps the most confusing and troubling report, the photo above is reportedly NOT of Kekua.

Deadspin claims it got in touch with a woman from Torrance, California who, upon being shown the image, replied over the phone:

“That is a picture of me from my Facebook account.”

The article goes on to explain why Te’o likely played a role in this hoax. Deadspin says it has reached out to the athlete for comment, but is yet to get in touch with him.

It’s certainly one of the more unusual stories we’ve come across in recent memory, considering the elaborate conspiracy that would be at work here by one of college football’s most respected players… if it is proven to be true, of course.

We’ll update this post as more news breaks.

Vinny Guadagnino on Pretend-Rape Lyrics: My Bad!

Vinny Guadagnino is apologizing profusely after the rap song he posted online – featuring lyrics about him pretend-raping strippers – did not exactly go over well.

The Jersey Shore star has issued a formal apology for the rap, which he posted Wednesday morning but took down before we could even download the masterpiece.

Probably a good idea.

Vinny Guadagnino of Jersey Shore

Vinny helps us remember how to spell his ridiculously long surname.

“I’d like to apologize for the rap,” Seabiscuit wrote on his blog. “Was meant to be a funny take on an already ‘dirty’ song, funny since I’m known as the ‘good boy’.”

“I am 100 percent against violence of any kind. I work with many organizations to stop violence and bullying, and will continue to. It’s something I strongly believe in.”

“I am very, very sorry to anyone I’ve offended.”

Lesson learned: Do not joke about raping strippers, or slavery, or the Holocaust, or murdering your son if he talks in a “gay” voice. Possibly a little over the top.

Hank Williams Jr. Likens President Obama to Hitler, Renders Even Fox News Panel Speechless

Are you ready for some insanity?

When Hank Williams Jr. stopped by Fox & Friends this morning to discuss politics (absurd in itself), few could have imagined the views that the country music singer and longtime voice of Monday Night Football espouses.

Williams described this year’s “Golf Summit” between President Barack Obama and Speaker of the House John Boehner as “One of the biggest political mistakes ever.” Sadly, that was Hank’s high water mark for intelligence:

When the co-hosts asked Williams to explain, he offered this scintillating insight: “Come on! Come on! It would be like Hitler playing golf with Netanyahu!”

To the Fox News panel’s credit, they were clearly dumbstruck, turned off and unsure of how to respond to such an outrageous comment in a live interview.

Still, you have to question the wisdom of having this guy on your show in the first place. You can’t find an intelligent conservative voice to talk politics?

Your take: Is Obama a socialist?

UPDATE: ESPN has yanked Williams, saying in a statement: “We are extremely disappointed with his comments, and as a result we have decided to pull the open from tonight’s telecast.”
