Hugh Jackman First Look At Him As Blackbeard In ‘Pan’ (Hot New Trailer)

hugh jackman in panThis is one of my favorite parts about Thanksgiving: it’s also when TONS of hot new trailers get released. This is the UK trailer for ‘Pan.’ It’s our first look at Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard! Garrett Hedlund plays James Hook, but it’s a young version of Captain Hook: he still has both of his hands ;). Levi Miller plays Peter Pan. This is an interesting version that’s kind of like a prequel to the classic story ‘Peter Pan.’ RELATED: Hugh Jackman deadlifts nearly 400 lbs as part of his training for ‘Pan.’

This story is about how Peter himself came to Neverland. I guess we’ll find out how he and Hook became enemies? It looks like they are allies in ‘Pan’! Rooney Mara plays Tiger Lily, and Amanda Seyfried plays Mary (who I think is Peter’s mother). ‘Pan’ has an impressive cast!

Visually, it looks stunning. This trailer says it’ll be in 3D and 2D. I’ll be surprised if it’s not also in IMAX here in the US. It’s scheduled to hit theaters in the States on June 26, 2015. Can’t WAIT.

Lupita Nyong’o wears blue Calvin Klein in Cannes: lovely or kind of boring?

Here are some photos from the Calvin Klein party last night at the Cannes Film Festival. This was Lupita Nyong’o’s first Cannes! And while she doesn’t have a film to promote, she’s hardly the first actress to come to Cannes just to be a Fashion Girl and a Party Girl. She’s got a MiuMiu contract and a Lancome contract – showing up to parties and looking beautiful is one of her jobs now.

Lupita partied and posed with Rooney Mara (the current face of Calvin Klein), Julianne Moore and Naomi Watts at the Cannes event. They all look like they were having a good time… except for Rooney, who always looks… aloof. All of these ladies are wearing Calvin Klein, obviously. Even though I’m not crazy about the cut-out on Lupita’s CK dress, I think hers was the prettiest. I think Julianne’s was the worst, although Naomi’s dress was trying to give Julianne’s a run for the Fug Title.

So, are you okay with Lupita coming out to these events? I’m fine with it. Cannes is a great place to network, and hey, she might even get some work out of this trip.

Director Joe Wright’s reimagining of the beloved childhood story Peter Pan (titled simply Pan) is definitely shaping up to be an interesting movie.

While it’s been set in stone for a while that Garrett Hedlund will be playing Captain Hook and that Hugh Jackman will be playing Blackbeard, we’ve now also got word on who will be playing Tiger Lily. It’s none other than The Girl With The Dragon TattooRooney Mara. Yes, you read that right.

No word yet on who will be cast as Peter Pan, although sources are saying that it will definitely be a child, rather than a grown actor.

Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell Named Sexiest Celebrity Vegetarians

It’s a very good time to be Kristen Bell.

The actress is officially engaged to Dax Shepard; the Veronica Mars movie is a go; and now PETA had dubbed both her and her fiance as the Sexiest Celebrity Vegetarians!

The adorable parents to three-month old daughter Lincoln represent the first couple to ever receive this honor.

Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell Kiss

Bell beat out Anne Hathaway, Edie Falco, Kristen Wiig, Rooney Mara, Portia De Rossi and Jenna Dewan Tatum to win on the women’s side, while Dax defeated Bill Clinton, Peter Dinklage, Jared Leto, Johnny Galecki and Woody Harrelson.

“Fads are a dime a dozen among red-carpet regulars, but there’s one Tinseltown trend that won’t be fading away any time soon: going vegetarian or vegan!” PETA posted on its website, adding:

“Whether it’s to improve their health, preserve the environment, or help stop cruelty to animals, Hollywood hotties are proving that meatless meals have never looked (or tasted!) so good.”

And if you wish to join in this trend, bookmark this section of vegetarian recipes now!

Rooney Mara in a Dior bib- dress in Cannes: annoying, aloof or exhausting?

Here are some photos of Rooney Mara in Dior at the Ain’t Them Bodies Saints premiere. I think this was a premiere just in general, not in competition for the Palme, either that or it’s in competition for Un Certain Regarde. I don’t know. Rooney’s Dior ensemble is a variation on Jennifer Lawrence’s black-and-white premiere dress, did you know that? I think J-Law wore it better. I just don’t get what Rooney is trying to achieve with her fashion. Is she trying to show us that she’s so avant-garde and special that she can wear fug clothing and pull it off? Or does she honestly think she looks cute? Ugh.

Rooney was just announced as the new face of Calvin Klein fragrances too. So much for her claims that she’s NOT A MODEL and she doesn’t want to be. You can see the first image from her CK campaign here.

Doutzen Kroes in Calvin Klein (the white) and Versace (the pink). The Versace isn’t that good and it washes her out. The CK dress is decent, but I feel like the top part is ill-fitting.

Cheryl Cole in Zuhair Murad. Game show hostess.

Jane Fonda in Atelier Versace. I’m sorry, but everything here looks straight out of the ‘80s. I mean, good for her for still looking so good and everything, but this photo looks like it was taken in 1985.

Lea Seydoux in Louis Vuitton. She’s a beautiful woman in a so-so dress.

Paz Vega has been everywhere in Cannes. I kind of think she’s “working” the festival, you know? She wore this Stéphane Rolland Spring 2013 Couture gown which is absolutely terrible. Jennifer Lawrence wore a Dior gown like this at the SAGs this year, so I guess Rolland is copying Dior. What a stupid design idea to “copy”. God.

Photocall pics from Inside Llewyn Davis, with Garrett Hedlund, Justin Timberlake, Carey Mulligan and Oscar Isaac. Garrett looks AMAZING. But Justin thinks he’s the “star”!

Rooney Mara in Alexander McQueen at the ‘Side Effects’ premiere: lovely or fug?

Here are some photos from last night’s NYC premiere of Side Effects, that Steven Soderbergh film which looks surprisingly good. I’m not sure if the film is actually supposed to be a suspense/thriller (as opposed to a straight drama), but that’s the way the commercials make it seem, and I’m up for it. Also surprising: everybody looked pretty good at the premiere. I think Catherine Zeta Jones looked the best – she wore this Michael Kors gown which looks stunning on her. Zeta killed it!

Rooney Mara, the controversial “star” of the film (Soderbergh wanted Blake Lively originally), wore white Alexander McQueen for her big premiere. You know what? I don’t hate it. I think this would have looked awful on most women, but it kind of works on someone with Rooney’s slight build. The middle-part/slicked-down hair is bad – I would love to see her hair with some body, some fluff, something different. But the dress is okay and it’s interesting.

As for the boys – Channing looked nice in his Dolce & Gabbana suit, although I’m not really crazy about his recently-shorn head. He just looks better with hair. This hairstyle makes him look even more meathead-ish. And Jude… well, Jude Law is making love to the cameras. Jude Law is the business. There’s a reason why he keeps getting ladies pregnant.

Rooney Mara versus Kate Mara: who looked cuter at Kate’s premiere?

Does anyone else feel kind of bad for Kate Mara? She’s Rooney Mara’s older sister (older by two years) and it wasn’t that long ago that Kate Mara was the sister posed for a big Hollywood breakout. Kate was the one working consistently in films and television, and she had more name recognition. Then Rooney scored a small part in The Social Network, which led to the role of a lifetime as Lisbeth Salander in the American version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, which led to magazine covers and fame and money and an Oscar nomination and now people are like “Kate who?”

So these are new photos of the premiere of House of Cards, which is a new TV show starring Kevin Spacey, and Kate has a supporting part. Rooney came out to support her sister, which… is nice, I guess? Kate came to the Oscars last year to support Rooney, and I guess they have a history of showing up for each other’s red carpets and stuff. But it still feels somewhat passive-aggressive on Rooney’s part. Like, “Oh, congrats on your little TV show, I’m about to film a sequel to my Oscar-nominated lead role, haha.” These two just seem more like Olivia de Havilland and Joan Fontaine as opposed to… like, the Olsen sisters.

As for fashion, Rooney is wearing a really terrible Band of Outsiders jumpsuit. Are those Hammer pants? Her outfit looks like something Justin Bieber would wear. Maybe that’s Rooney’s gift to her sister – Rooney will passive-aggressively walk Rooney’s red carpet, but Rooney will make sure that she wears something awful. Kate’s dress is Dolce & Gabbana – it’s sparkly and meh. It would have been a much better look without the white lace hem details.

PS… Is it just me or do both Mara girls have terrible posture? It’s beyond the “hipster slump”.

Hot Guy Of The Day – Jude Law

Side Effects Q&A New York Screening

Jude Law was looking dapper in New York City last night! I’m glad the beard he had for a while is gone. The rugged look really doesn’t work for Jude. He cleaned up nicely for his Q&A for his new movie, ‘Side Effects.’ Here’s what the movie is about:

Emily and Martin are a successful New York couple whose world unravels when a new drug prescribed by Emily’s psychiatrist – intended to treat anxiety – has unexpected side effects.

Channing Tatum and ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ star Rooney Mara also star in the movie. I’m interested in seeing this one. Does it sound good to you?

Sundance Scoop! The Top 10 Most Buzzed About Movies For Sundance 2013

matthew mcconaughey in mud

It’s that time of year again, when Hollywood treks out to the mountains in Salt Lake City for Sundance! Fandango has helpfully compiled a list of the top 10 movies that have the most buzz going into the festival.

1. ‘Ain’t Them Bodies Saints’: starring Rooney Mara, Casey Affleck, Ben Foster; David Lowery (Director)

The Buzz: You don’t get a more intense trio than this, and that’s especially true when you put them in a story about an outlaw (Affleck) who escapes from prison in order to reunite with his wife (Mara) and the baby he never knew. We expect lots of gritty Texas flavor and more than one awards-caliber performance out of this one.

2. ‘Before Midnight’: starring Ethan Hawke, Julie Delpy; Richard Linklater (Director)

The Buzz: Linklater returns to tell the long-awaited next chapter in the lives of Celine and Jesse, nine years after their previous rendezvous. Many consider the duo’s other two cinematic encounters, Before Sunrise and Before Sunset, to be among two of the most romantic movies ever made.

3. ‘Don Jon’s Addiction’: starring oseph Gordon-Levitt (Star, Director), Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Moore

The Buzz: This is Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s directorial debut, off a script he also wrote. Here he returns to Sundance as a ladies’ man in search of a more gratifying sex life. Is there anyone who isn’t turned on by that description and this cast?

4. ‘Lovelace’: starring: Amanda Seyfried, Peter Sarsgaard, James Franco, Sharon Stone, Rob Epstein (Director), Jeffrey Friedman (Director)

The Buzz: Amanda Seyfried plays porn star Linda Lovelace, a role full of all sorts of demanding parts to it, both physical and emotional. While many will be focused on the sex (which we imagine will be plentiful) and Lovelace’s Deep Throat, the real story will come in the tale of a troubled and abused woman rising up to discover her true self.

5. ‘The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman’: starring Shia LaBeouf, Evan Rachel Wood, Mads Mikkelsen, Rupert Grint, Fredrik Bond (Director)

The Buzz:  The next phase of Shia LaBeouf’s post-Transformers career continues with this wild role in which he plays an American traveling through Europe who hooks up with a whole lotta trouble in the form of a mysterious Romanian woman (Evan Rachel Wood).

Click on the more link beneath the gallery to see the remaining pics. Which one is your favorite? ‘Mud‘ with Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon is the one I’m the most curious about (check after the break to see its description).

6. ‘S-VHS’: starring Simon Barrett, Adam Wingard, Edúardo Sanchez, Gregg Hale, Timo Tjahjanto, Gareth Huw Evans, Jason Eisener (Directors)

The Buzz: Another sequel premiering at this year’s festival (Before Midnight being the other),S-VHS ambitiously debuts only 12 months after the first volume arrived, continuing the anthology theme with a host of new horror shorts from returning directors and some new ones, like Edúardo Sanchez (The Blair Witch Project) and Jason Eisener (Hobo with a Shotgun). Don’t tell anyone, but word is it’s better than the first.

7. ‘The Spectactular Now’: starring Miles Teller, Shailene Woodley, James Ponsoldt (Director)

The Buzz: Ponsoldt’s Smashed was a, well, smash hit at Sundance last year, and now he returns with another unique tale about two very different people who sort of find each other amidst the chaos and addictions of high school. Many expect breakout performances from both Teller (Footloose) and Woodley (The Descendants) in the film, adapted from Tim Tharp’s novel by the duo who wrote 500 Days of Summer.

8. ‘Stoker’: starring Mia Wasikowska, Matthew Goode, Nicole Kidman, Park Chan-wook (Director)

The Buzz: Park Chan-wook (Old Boy, Three …Extremes) makes his highly anticipated English-language debut with this film about a girl who becomes infatuated with a mysterious uncle who arrives on the scene after her father dies in a car accident. We shall expect the unexpected, and look forward to loving every minute of it.

9. ‘Mud’: starring Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Jeff Nichols (Director)

The Buzz: Matthew McConaughey is currently enjoying the most impressive stint in his career, and pairing him with the excellent writer-director Jeff Nichols (Take Shelter) will only bring out the best in this story about two boys who stumble upon a charismatic outlaw (McConaughey) while out exploring.

10. ‘The East’: starring Brit Marling, Alexander Skarsgard, Ellen Page, Patricia Clarkson, Zal Batmanglij (Director)

The Buzz: The duo who brought us the Sundance hit Sound of My Voice (Marling and Batmanglij) return to the festival with this much-anticipated follow-up about an ex-FBI agent who infiltrates a mysterious group of anarchists targeting wealthy and powerful corporate CEOs.
